# Woodcutting

Woodcutting lets you gather Wood from trees.

Wood is useful for crafting, trading, and Marketplace activity.

### How to chop trees

Equip an Axe and walk near a tree.

Press **E** to chop.

You can also click a tree while holding an Axe to move toward it and begin chopping.

### Wood

Chopped trees give Wood.

Wood is one of the most useful early resources in Little Farmers.

### Woodcutting XP

Chopping trees gives Woodcutting XP.

As you continue chopping, your Woodcutting profession progresses.

### Tree respawn

Trees can return over time, keeping the forest active.

### Lumberjack

The Lumberjack helps farmers who do not have an Axe.

He can give you a free Wooden Axe when eligible.

### Free Wooden Axe cooldown

The free Wooden Axe has an **8-hour cooldown**.

If it is not ready yet, the Lumberjack will tell you when to come back.

This keeps the free axe helpful without making it something to farm repeatedly.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.playlittlefarmers.com/player-guides/woodcutting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
